Purpose of Position:

The Used Gun Manager will oversee the purchasing of used and select surplus firearms for store locations.  They will facilitate proper training and ensure established operational procedures are followed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With assistance from the Director of Firearms Services, develop and implement business rules, processes, and metrics for the used gun process
  • Manage daily operations to meet sales, margin, and inventory goals
  • Oversee inventory and provide planning to manage aged inventory though marketing and promotion
  • Ensure competitive and profitable pricing by recommending pricing adjustments for used firearms to the Director of Firearms Services
  • Ensure the buying and selling process of used firearms meets all ATF Compliance requirements
  • Ensure all locations meet second hand dealer reporting and waiting period requirements
  • Assist in development of Used Gun Process improvements including reporting and cost efficiencies
  • Identify current and future firearm trends to ensure current inventory is relevant to consumer needs
  • Support the stores during optimal store business hours by phone and email as required for maximum effectiveness
  • Ensure used gun inventory is delivering products and services that meet or exceed the company’s quality metrics
  • Develop training program for store personnel to learn how to appraise and purchase used firearms
  • All other duties as assigned

 


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Excellent technical understanding of a wide range of firearms as well as common repairs and modifications.
  • Solid knowledge of the used guns security policy and procedures.
  • Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic vision and the ability to think on an enterprise level.
  • Proven leadership ability to set the vision for the Used Gun Program.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to possess firearms and pass a background check as part of ongoing duties.

 

Education/Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study; or
  • A minimum of 5-years’ experience in purchasing used firearms with commensurate experience in retail firearm sales is required; or
  • An appropriate combination of education and experience

Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel Up to 25% for onsite visits to stores and other acquisition duties as assigned
