Purpose of Position:

The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement and purchasing operations within the organization. This role involves implementing procurement strategies to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services to meet organizational needs. The Procurement Manager maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring supplier performance and assessing risk. Collaboration with other departments is essential to define inventory requirements and manage inventory levels effectively. Additionally, the Procurement Manager oversees auditing processes to ensure compliance with industry and governmental regulations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage procurement and purchasing operations to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize supplier relationships and negotiate favorable contracts.
  • Implement systems for monitoring supplier performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with other departments to define inventory requirements and manage inventory levels.
  • Utilize technical tools and systems to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands.
  • Oversee auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Ensure that project/department milestones and goals are met while adhering to approved budgets.
  • Make personnel decisions and have full authority for personnel actions.
  • Provide training, guidance, and supervision to staff.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback.
  • Implement and enforce process and policy adherence within the department.
  • All other duties as assigned

 


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of procurement function and department processes.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful procurement strategies.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

 

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in procurement or a related area as an individual contributor.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
  •  

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

  • This position is considered sedentary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install/move computer equipment
  • The employee may be required to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer work
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
