Purpose of Position:

The eCommerce Site Search & Navigation Lead will build best in class, intuitive, and comprehensive search and taxonomy structures to enhance online product discovery and the customer experience to drive an increased conversion rate and maximize sales dollars

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall site standards in the areas of search and browse usability across all departments
  • Own search relevancy workstream; including keywording, index value modifications synonym mapping, and redirect implementations by continually monitoring site search behavior. Address null and top search terms to deliver increasing conversion and search revenue per session
  • Partner with the development team to modify current search configurations, indexed fields, weighting and sorting to provide an intuitive and efficient search experience
  • Ensure faceted navigation and attribute-driven user experience adheres to eCommerce best practices and partner with the site merchandising and product content teams to ensure content updates and enhancements leverage usable faceted navigation features
  • Influence product style guides specific to attribution and site standards values
  • Lead browse usability with site merchandising and SEO teams to continually review and improve site taxonomy structure
  • Develop A|B testing methodology to measure pre and post-performance of search and navigation changes to confirm positive impact
  • Effectively create and deliver ongoing search relevancy success reviews to cross functional leaders in eCommerce, Marketing, Buying, and other key stakeholders, as well as the desired taxonomy structure, implementation plan, and post change analytics
  • Develop operational excellence programs, data quality initiatives and process simplifications
  • Continuously improve eCommerce search & navigation skillset, staying up to date with shifts in the marketplace
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Sportsman’s Warehouse Omnichannel policies and procedures, especially the nuance of restricted products, and optimize site search and navigation accordingly
  • All other duties as assigned



  • Excellent Excel skills required, e.g., familiar with pivot tables and VLookup
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience with User Experience and/or SEO is a plus.
  • Excellent analytic skills with the ability to use tools to dive deep and provide analysis consistently on performance metrics
  • Ability to analyze, organize and integrate large amounts of complex information into clear, concise presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to deliver effectively in cross functional teams and to recognize and adapt to company culture
  • Lead by example and model a passion for the customer experience as well as demonstrate a proactive and solution-oriented style
  • Ability to remain organized, pay strict attention to detail, and meet critical deadlines within a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Analytical, with problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills
  • Pragmatic, customer-centric approach


  • High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in eCommerce and Site Search and/or Taxonomy
