Job Title: Shipping Lead

Purpose of Position:

The Shipping Lead is responsible for first level of supervision for Shipping Associates to ensure the team is fully-functioning and for building and wrapping pallets of merchandise and loading these onto trailers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Establish operational procedures for verification of outbound shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current

· Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment on a daily basis

· Complete required paperwork for completed loads

· Perform audits

· Sort, stack, and palletize merchandise that is brought to the staging area

· Build strong, sturdy pallets of approved height and prepare them for shipment

· Identify count, segregate, and label all hazardous materials on pallets

· Wrap pallets, create G-plates, and stage complete pallets in correct staging location

· Load pallets onto correct trailer safely and efficiently, maintaining a high level of accuracy and proper load placement

· Accurately complete load sheets and update shipping board

· Assist in staging of cross dock merchandise and ship-to-store packages

· Sort boxes from conveyor, ensuring items are banded and all boxes are properly packed

· Safely operate all equipment used to perform job functions

· Maintain a clean, safe work area, using a “clean as you go” approach

· Participate in and complete end of the day cleaning assignments

· All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and HighJump

· Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English

· Ability to lead and motivate others

· Detail-oriented

· Ability to use RF devices

· Basic math skills

· Physical ability to repetitively lift 50lbs on a regular basis

Education/Experience:

· High school Diploma or Equivalent

· A minimum of 1 year Shipping experience preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Delegate work assignments

· Monitor associate work for accuracy

· Train new employees in conjunction with the department training program

· Monitor and provide follow-up training for employees that need improvement in any aspect of the job

· This position is considered activeand includes walking or standing for long periods of time.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and stoop/kneel to handle computer and warehouse equipment

· The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds at any given time and be required to constantly lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer and RF device work

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a loud noise level (i.e. forklifts, semi-trucks, pallet jacks, conveyor belts, moving boxes, etc.). The work environment is loud and/or dusty at times, and the indoor temperature fluctuates by season

· The employee will operate and/or work near motorized handling equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, conveyor controls, pallet turn tables, elevated dock doors, etc.
