Purpose of Position:

Sportsman’s Warehouse is seeking an internal audit professional that is self-motivated, independent, and that is looking for an advancement in their career. As an Internal Auditor, you will report to and work directly with the internal audit team and Director of Internal Audit, performing risk assessments and audit testing to support management’s compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). This position has an opportunity for advancement within the internal audit department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct process walkthroughs & interviews with management to support the internal audit/SOX design assessments.
  • Assess management control design & systems and effectively communicate any design deficiencies with management
  • Understand business & reporting risks in the business and perform regular risk assessment    
  • Perform internal audit testing overall in-scope systems and business process controls in accordance with the audit plan
  • Clearly document audit testing procedures and final conclusions in line with audit plan and standards
  • Assess & communicate effectively with management any deviations
  • Assist management with remediation plans and execute remediation control testing
  • Maintain productive relationships with external auditors and provide regular status updates with external audit
  • Maintain productive relationship with management and effectively communicate any recommendations and/or exceptions
  • Provide regular status updates on any projects or changes in the environment
  • Assist the department with drafting internal audit reports and other internal/external communications
  • Perform internal audits and have ability to design, assess, and conclude on operational efficiencies or exceptions



  • Background in public accounting with a focus on audit/consulting preferred
  • Clear understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and 404b requirements in an audit
  • Experience with Risk Assessments and have a clear understanding of business & reporting risks to a Company, including in the IT environment
  • Experience with testing business process controls and an understanding of information technology controls and ITGC design
  • Experience with ERP, POS, & eCommerce systems, including: Oracle EBS; SAP Commerce Cloud; HighJump; and
  • Experience with report writing tools, including: Splash BI and/or PowerBI
  • Ability to prioritize work & manage various projects at the same time
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently without a lot of direct supervision
  • Organized and able to clearly document all work performed
  • Ability to clearly communicate with management and external resources.



  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Accounting, Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years’ experience in Audit or related field


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Not required, however, preference will be given to those with (or working towards one of these certifications)

  • This position is considered sedentary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install/move computer equipment
  • The employee may be required to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer work
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
