Description
Purpose of Position:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Systems Design: Understands basic systems design principles, such as modularity and scalability
- Operating Systems (Linux, Windows, etc.): Proficient in at least one operating system, such as Linux or Windows
- Virtualization and Containerization: Understands basic virtualization and containerization concepts, such as VMware and Docker
- Storage Management: Understands basic storage concepts, such as RAID and SAN
- Backup and Recovery: Understands basic backup and recovery concepts, such as snapshots and replication
- System Monitoring and Management: Understands basic system monitoring and management tools, such as Nagios and SolarWinds
- Automation and Orchestration: Understands basic automation and orchestration concepts, such as Ansible and Puppet
- Cloud Infrastructure: Understands basic cloud infrastructure options, such as AWS EC2 and Azure VMs
- High Availability and Scalability: Understands basic high availability and scalability concepts, such as load balancing and clustering
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Understands basic disaster recovery and business continuity concepts
- All other duties as assigned

- This position is considered sedentary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install/move computer equipment
- The employee may be required to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer work
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
