Description

Purpose of Position

The Associate Buyer supports the merchandising team by assisting in product selection, basic purchasing activities, and vendor coordination. This role works closely with the Buyer & DMM to assist with all buying operations.

 The Associate Buyer is an entry-level position designed to build foundational buying and merchandising skills.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Buyer & DMM with assortment selection and review the performance of existing products
  • Support inventory management tasks, including monitoring stock levels and flagging potential stockouts
  • Communicate with vendors to confirm orders, delivery dates, pricing accuracy, and product availability
  • Help prepare for promotions, product launches, and vendor meetings
  • Coordinate with Demand Planners to ensure accurate system updates and forecasting inputs
  • Maintain product and vendor data in internal systems (Visual line-plans, sku setups, cost updates, etc.)
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting
  • Assist with promotional strategies and display plans


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Curious about the numbers and excited to learn what drives retail performance
  • Highly organized and comfortable juggling multiple priorities
  • Confident in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills required
  • Clear, thoughtful communicator—both verbally and in writing
  • Detail-focused, proactive, and always ready to learn something new
  • Able to work independently while being a reliable, collaborative team player

 

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in buying, merchandising, planning, retail operations, or related work (internships included)
