Purpose of Position:

The Content Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the overall company's content strategy. He/she is responsible for the management of creation and production of online and offline marketing content. He/she is responsible for managing sponsorship and influencer relationships and agreements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute content marketing strategy to drive customer engagement, traffic (online and offline), and leads that deliver sales and customer retention
  • Manage all partners, sponsorships and influencers for Sportsman’s. Leverage partnerships for unique, original content for SW channels
  • Manage social media presence and activity 
  • Collaborate across business functions and within internal departments (primarily marketing and merchandising) to deliver effective content marketing initiatives to meet business targets
  • Editorial requirements include basic SEO understanding, content categorization and structure, content development, distribution and measurement (analytics), and development of consistent brand voice, style and tone
  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar and organization workflows
  • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels, web traffic, and customer touch points, making improvements accordingly
  • Edit, proofread and improve content
  • Receive & analyze customer feedback and generate ideas/processes to increase customer engagement
  • Stay updated on and identify industry trends and adjust the content strategy as needed
  • Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate
  • Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Experience in producing content (blog, video, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Editorial mindset with an ability to predict audience preferences
  • In-depth, hands on experience and knowledge of the top social channels
  • Demonstrated ability to lead content marketing campaigns
  • Good time-management skills, ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and WordPress or other Content Management Software
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field required
  • Prior experience in Content Marketing required

Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity at 20 inches or less due to computer work
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will experience a moderate noise level (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
